Advocacy Organizations

ALS Association Kentucky Chapter supports people living with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and their loved ones through services and education. Our mission is to discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.

The national organization of and for people with intellectual disabilities and related developmental disabilities and their families. The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.

AUCD is a resource for local, state, national, and international agencies, organizations, and policy makers concerned about people living with developmental and other disabilities and their families. AUCD is a membership organization that supports and promotes a national network of university-based interdisciplinary programs.

Autism Society of America The Autism Society is a national organization that exists to improve the lives of all affected by autism, by increasing public awareness about the day-to-day issues faced by people on the autism disorders spectrum, advocating for appropriate services for individuals across the lifespan, and providing the latest information regarding treatment, education, research and advocacy.

ASK is a non-profit organization serving Greater Louisville and Southern Indiana that provides support for families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders. ASK provides resources and education for families and individuals through monthly support meetings, workshops and social events.

Autism Society of the Bluegrass (ASBG) The Autism Society of the Bluegrass is a resource and support group for families and professionals in the Central Kentucky area who are involved with autism. A chapter of the Autism Society of America and a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, ASBG provides education as well as scholarships for members to obtain continuing autism-related education.

An organization run by and for autistic people. We promote the human rights of all autistic people with a dual focus on systemic and individual self-advocacy as informed by the neurodiversity paradigm.

The Bluegrass Parkinson’s Alliance offers weekly programming for individuals with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners including support groups, educational classes, and exercise programs. Most programming is available through the BPA at no cost to the participant.

Brain Injury Alliance of Kentucky (BIAK) seeks to serve those affected by brain injury through advocacy, education, prevention, service and support. BIAK links survivors of brain injury and their families to support from others with similar experience; provides them with education and information about living with brain injury; assists them in locating resources for financial assistance; and seeks to connect people with sources of emotional support.

CCDD’s mission is to create systemic change in Kentucky that empowers individuals to achieve full citizenship and inclusion in the community through capacity building and advocacy.
